In our tomato house, we use ground coconut hulls as the growing medium. Coconut hulls have a neutral pH and zero nutrient value that enables us to control the pH without chemicals. We add nutrients throughout the stages of growth.

Our lettuce grows on top of a thin sheet of foam that floats on top of nutrient rich water. We add only the nutrients needed to avoid excess nitrate buildup.
